Trying a Cappucino

For my final endeavor this week, I decided to try making a cappuccino. While I do not order cappuccinos very often, it would be fun to try something that scares me: using the milk steamer on my espresso machine. This is a part of the espresso machine that I have been nervous to use because it honestly just looks too fancy and intimidating.  How do I make a Cappuccino? Ingredients 1 shot of espresso 2/3 cup milk of your choice Cinnamon or Chocolate Shavings if preferred How do I make it?  Step 1: Brew one shot of espresso per your espresso maker's directions.  Step 2 : Froth your milk of choice (I chose to use unsweetened vanilla almond milk).  Step 3 : Pour your espresso into your mug and add your frothed milk. Step 4: Sprinkle your chocolate or cinnamon on top and enjoy! Products I used: Cafe Bustelo Espresso. You can find it  here  on Amazon.         Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk. You can find it  here  on the HyVee ...

Starting Simple

For my first at-home coffee project I decided to start simple with a Caffe Americano. As espresso is will be the base of most of the drinks I will be making it is important that I know how to brew it properly. A Caffe Americano is made of just espresso and hot water. This is a drink that I often order from places like Starbucks and my local coffee shop. Making it at home will be fun and save me money!  Americano vs. Black Coffee   If you're like me, I looked at an americano and thought that it looked an awful lot like a cup of black coffee. So what is the difference? Black coffee is a plain cup of coffee with no milk, sugar, cream, etc. An americano is an espresso with hot water added to dilute the strong taste of the espresso. Some other differences set these two drinks apart. Firstly, though it depends on how you brew your coffee, black coffee will often have a slightly sweet taste and does not have a bitter flavor when brewed properly. americano on the other hand has a stro...

About Me

About Me My name is Morgan Nicolls. I am a paraeducator and graduate student.  I enjoy spending time with my family and my pets. We have three very spoiled  animals, a dog named bruce and our two cats Eddison and vlad! My hobbies  include cuddling up with my animals and reading a good book, as well as  spending time outdoors.  I am an aspiring crafter, but can never stick with  anything!  My coffee journey  My mom has always been a huge coffee drinker. She loves the way it tastes, smells, and the way the cup feels in her hand. When I was growing up, she would often wax poetic over her love of coffee. Naturally, when I was a kid and too young to actually drink coffee, I would often put pop in coffee mugs or get hot teas in to go cups and pretend that I had that same roasted deliciousness in my cup. As soon as I was old enough (13 was good enough for my mom) I started my addiction. Since then, coffee has become one of the great loves of my life. Whi...
